When we first started The Stonewater in February, we listed @viawesome as our dream publication to see ourselves in. So many of our hospitality inspirations have been featured with them, and it’s such an honour to be among them now 😊 Big shout out to @squashblossom for the beautiful piece, and to both her & her son for joining us on the adventure. I may need some convincing that kicking back and chilling at The Stonewater is better than the world famous Skookumchuck…but it’s certainly a quote I’ll cherish (and use) forever 💫 😉 Can’t wait to have you both back! - Q

The Skookumchuck is probably the only thing on the Sunshine Coast that you need to be on time for (be sure to check the schedule for a +XL tide). It’s sometimes claimed to be the fastest tidal rapids in the world, with up to 9-foot tides and over 200 billion gallons of water flow. The massive wave draws hikers, and extreme surfers, kayakers from around the world (and at least on paddle boarder that we’re aware of) 🌊 🏄🏼‍♂️ It’s also just a short scoot 🚙 from your cozy abode at The Stonewater 😉 Pro tip: No matter how late you are for the tides, be sure to grab a cinnamon bun (or anything, really) from the awesome people @skookumchuckbakery !

Vintage 😍 We’ve picked up & fixed up a lot of vintage pieces at The Stonewater, but this has gotta be our most loved one. What you’re looking at is a 1978-79 Pioneer turntable, amplifier, receiver, tape player, equalizer, and a ~1980 Akai reel-to-reel. The speakers are custom (inside of a pair of vintage Mission cabinets). Our owner @quaidjohnston pulled these components together over the course of several years (possibly out of guilt: he destroyed his dad’s matching system as a child). When you come by next, feel free to dig through our ~200 records, 20-30 cassettes, and a dozen reel-to-reels. We might even let you pick what’s playing next!

Between this and @fortstmcmurph’s fortstival, it’s incredible how much of my life revolves around managing other people’s poop. (HOW DO WE FEEL ABOUT MUSIC WITH MY VOICEOVERS PEOPLE)

Very excited for when I have more time to make content that isn’t just my voiceover.

It’s called the Stonewater. I used a stone as a box cutter. Get it? Ya like that? F’real tho. I went to bed with this anxiety that no one was going to show up (it’s day two) and we ended up getting nearly $1.6k in bookings for this week (including a corporate client!). On the flip side, we are deffo in some transition pains which I’m hopeful to get some video content of tomorrow. I wanna show you the nitty gritty side too. Right now we’re juggling our old booking system, and we don’t have smart pricing up and running so it’s hard to know if we’re competitively priced. That said, the goal for this month is development, so missing revenue targets this time is ok...theoretically 🙃
